Ficus Premium Potting Mix

I am extremely pleased with this mix for my Ficus species: F. benjamina, F. triangularis, F. nerifolia, and F. brandegii. This mix has worked so well for me, and in my particular case, I have seen an increase in the rate of growth as well as an increase in the overall health of my plants. The water retention is exactly what I am looking for and has worked so well for both my outdoor and indoor specimens. The mix has great fertilizer retention, which means I do not have to fertilize as often with a liquid based fertilizer. I also find that this particular mix works well for my Ficus species in development as well as the ones in refinement. I know it is often easy to focus on foliar mass when getting excited about how beautiful a Ficus can be, however, I have to admit that the quality of my root growth has also been congruent with my foliar mass--and yes, I am the plant nerd that cares THAT much about my root growth, even though it is not what most Ficus enthusiasts would like to focus on. The composition of this mix is so damn good! The last thing I feel is worth mentioning is: I live south of Tucson, AZ, in the Sonoran desert; even with the extreme outdoor temperatures, this mix does not become as hydrophobic as other mixes I have used--more specifically the "big name brands." This means I don't have to worry about this mix not soaking up water, or only soaking up water on the surface while the remainder of the rootball dries out. I am just really happy with this mix and think of it as a premium upgrade for housing my Ficus species.
